Veena Malik who posed in the nude for an Indian magazine with the initials of Pakistan's intelligence agency on her arm has triggered fury across the nation.
Veena Malik's photo on the website of FHM India, in advance of its publication in the magazine's December issue, has been lighting up social network website Facebook and Twitter since earlier this week.
Malik has broken Pakistani religious and national taboos in the past. She is a target for conservative and a heroine to some Pakistani liberals.
Maulana Abdul Qawi declared on Aaj TV on Saturday that her latest venture into controversy was a "shame for all Muslims." Farzana Naz, interviewed by the same channel on the streets of Lahore, said that the actress had "bowed all us women in shame."
Twitter commentator Umair Javed however called on Pakistanis to "make copies of the picture and bury it in your backyard. This way, our grandkids will know there were some amongst us who lived free!"
Asked by reporters whether Pakistan would "pursue the matter" legally, the country's Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Saturday, "First, let us see whether it is real or fake."
Malik for her part says that the photo at the root of the current uproar was published in violation of her agreement with FHM India. In an interview with Pakistani Geo television broadcast Saturday, Malik acknowledged having been photographed for a "bold but not nude shot." She said the editor of the magazine had promised that he would cover most of the photo with the ISI initials.
Malik said that the photo was intended to poke fun at the Indian fear of Pakistani spies: "Whatever happens (in India), people say ISI is behind that."
Malik said she would "probably" take a legal action against the magazine for violating terms and condition.
Magazine editor Kabeer Sharma said Malik did all with her full consent.
"We have all the record(s)," he told the Pakistani television station. "Veena was very excited about that ISI idea."

A judge sentenced Lindsay Lohan on Wednesday to 30 days in jail and warned the actress there would be plenty more time behind bars if she violated further court orders.
Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner imposed the complicated new sentence, telling Lohan she would have to serve more than 400 hours of community service at the county morgue, undergo counseling sessions and report to court frequently to avoid further jail time.
In all, Sautner sentenced Lohan to 300 days in jail for violating a court order, but said the actress would only serve the additional 270 days if there was another violation.
In reality, however, the initial 30-day sentence will be significantly shortened by jail overcrowding, with Lohan likely serving only about six days. The actual length of the term will be set by the Sheriff's Department, which oversees county lockups.
The actress has until Nov. 9 to report for her jail term, and Sautner ruled she cannot serve house arrest, as she did previously this year.
The judge is keeping a short leash on Lohan, ordering her to report to court for monthly updates between December and March. She said Lohan can no longer leave the country and would have a new "no-nonsense" probation officer.
The judge said the highly-structured sentence was known in judicial circles as "putting the keys to the jail in the defendant's hands."
Lohan, 25, acknowledged violating her probation by being terminated from a community service assignment at a women's shelter earlier this year and missing psychotherapy sessions that the judge previously ordered. The judge now says ALL of Lindsay's community service must now be served at the L.A. County Morgue. And the judge gave Lindsay a tight structure on how she must complete the rest of her probation, and if she doesn't the judge will put a warrant out for her arrest and sentence her to an additional 270 days in jail.
As for the 30 days Lindsay is getting now -- the judge made it clear ... NO HOUSE ARREST.
The Sheriff's Dept. tells us Lindsay will serve 20% of the 30 days -- 6 days in jail.
Judge Stephanie Sautner gave Lindsay a strict schedule on completing the rest of her probation -- by December 14, she must have completed 12 days at the morgue and 4 psychotherapy sessions. By January 17, another 12 days at morgue and 4 psychotherapy sessions. And so on. Everything must be completed by March 29 -- or she goes directly to jail for 270 days.
The judge clearly thinks Lindsay needs a rigid structure to complete her sentence, and as the judge put it, Lindsay is holding the keys to the jail cell.
And the judge strongly suggested Lindsay stop tweeting about her experiences at the morgue.
At the end, Lindsay seemed happy, walking out of court saying, "Thank God," under her breath.
Sources in the courtroom tell us that when the judge got off the bench she remarked about Lindsay, "She looks good today." It finally happened: Lindsay Lohan's luck ran out, and she's heading back to jail.
The actress just admitted in court that she violated her probation, and agreed to begin serving out a 30-day sentence at a Los Angeles jail. She's been ordered to turn herself in to begin the sentence within one week, by Nov. 9, and will not be eligible for house arrest, electronic monitoring or any early release other than that required by the law.
But will she really be serving a full month behind bars?
According to the news Lindsay Lohan is once again headed back to the sadly familiar confines of the Los Angeles County jail. The troubled actress appeared in court Wednesday morning (November 2) and was sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating her probation for not attending court-mandated therapy sessions and getting tossed from a community-service gig.
According to TMZ, Lohan admitted in court Wednesday that she violated the terms of her probation from a theft case by getting booted from her community-service assignment at the Downtown Women's Center.
Judge Stephanie Sautner was adamant that she would not put up with any more slipups from Lohan, telling her, "This is known as putting the keys to jail in the defendant's pocket ... the first time you violate, you will go to jail." Lohan will have to serve 12 days at the Los Angeles County morgue — where she's already been logging some time — and then attend four therapy sessions by December 14. Sautner warned that if Lohan does not meet all those conditions, she will put a warrant out for her arrest and sentence her to an additional 270 days in jail. Sautner revoked Lohan's probation in October following the revelation that the actress had not completed her obligations from a 2011 arrest on theft charges.
This time around, Lohan will not have the option of serving her time at home, and given the overcrowding situation in L.A. jails, she is only expected to serve 20 percent of the 30 days, or around six days. She has to complete another 12 days at the morgue and four psychotherapy sessions by January 17 and complete her community service (53 days total) and therapy obligations by March 29. If she successfully meets those obligations, her probation will be over.
Shockingly, TMZ also reported that Lohan was not immediately sent to jail because Judge Sautner decided to give her time to complete her nu*e photo shoot for Playboy magazine. Lohan lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley told the judge Lindsay must complete the shoot this week, which is reportedly netting her a cool $1 million. Lohan has one week to surrender and begin her fifth jail term, which is expected to start November 9.
"It makes me feel sad that some people are such a reaction," Jenner said that the demise of marriage in 72 days after the sulfuric acid. Kim Jong Il told a friend, Chris's family is actually partly due to the failure of marriage.
Jenner also debunk rumors, E! bought the rights to the wedding of 17.9 million. This is just not the case, Jenner insisted. "One of the rumors, we have sold millions of dollars in TV rights - is not correct, we profit, profit from her wedding is absolutely false, said:" Jenner.

It led me to see the site for some time one of the more interesting exchanges:
In fact, Christopher did not succeed in starting a school in Cambodia. With U.S. assistance to Cambodia's help, he and his wife specifically from their book "Half the Sky" started school in Phnom Penh as part of its profits east. In 2008, Christopher in his opening day of the New York Times "wrote:

Kim strongly denied, the wedding was a publicity stunt.

In the new school my speech, I told the kids, sometimes I do not know why the United States so rich and Cambodia was so poor. This is not because Americans are smarter or more diligent than Cambodia, because Cambodia is a sharp whistle and incredibly hard work. One of the factors, I believe, is the education gap, we are just happy to do everything we can to narrow the gap. "
Kardashian, of course, did not spend any money in her brief marriage. On the contrary, it was reported that she and Rice in his ill-fated love story starring earn $ 17 million.
Button when the amount of money Kardashian and Humphries, Jenner has been clarified. "They have sold the pictures and the like some of the money, but in the end of the day, the money to pay for the wedding and gold has a lot of money (wedding balance). Does not sell TV rights." (Press Further, Jenner said the sale of photo rights, "less than 1 million, more than $ 500,000."). Her website Kardashian announced, denied rumors that she made more than a million wedding. She may also have one of the reasons Christopher is happy. She said she would from her dream wedding gift money donated by the Foundation, a charitable organization that helps adults facing life-threatening diseases to grant wishes.
When Angelina Jolie picked the title for her directorial debut, which is a Serbian soldier and a Muslim women in Bosnia during the war between the love story, she admitted that she struggled to determine just the right name. "This is a heavy movie," she said. "You want to find the title, really helps the audience know how they went into." Thus, calls for "blood and honey in the land" certainly indicates that this romance will not be a walk in the park - especially in the rumors began to spread, Serbia character rape a woman.
Today, we see our film, Julie is not star. We see everything here, yes, it will be a very, very heavy the first movie trailer. But it looks like producers are hoping that in the center of an intense romance may make it a little more than cater to the audience.
Trailer dumping huge amounts of money to a woman (Zana Norwich) and her Serbian catcher (Golan Kostic) the complex relationship between. Between them there is an obvious attraction, but because they are the opposite of the conflict, they trust each other? Meanwhile, the Bosnian war raging around them, it appears, "the land of blood and honey" will likely have a greater range than expected, including the battle scenes. Tying it together is a piano score and word problems on the screen that says "love can change what we want" and "war can change who we are."
In other words, Julie and FilmDistrict (which is launched in late December of the film) know that their film is not for everyone. Are there any stars in front of the camera, and the Bosnian war is no conflict, and is known as either World War II (at least in the American audience). However, from the outset, Jolie insists that her film about the universal theme of "how human relationships and behavior by living in a profound impact on the war." Nail this trailer, the tone completely correct. Despite all the controversy the film had to endure before anyone saw any of it, "the land of blood and honey," these few minutes, lens, looks very much like Oscar voters love the prestige Sort pictures. Trailer what may be a difficult sell, including an award season in the audience can easily recognize it. Now, we will see how the finished product of this commitment. Angelina Jolie's new trailer, "the land in blood and honey," hit the web last Friday, and fans can finally see the noise.
At first clip reveals the two lovers, a Serbian man and Bosnian Muslim women, the former appear darker story. It seems to be forced separation of couples in 1992 during the Bosnian war, he took her captive. "I am a prisoner?" She asked. "If you want here, you are not prisoners," is his chilling answer.
Bosnian actress Zana Ivanovic and Goran Kostic star in English and Serbian - Croatian language film shot.
Julie of the play marks the debut, but as a film writer and director of the domestic is not easy. At the end of 2010, "Blood and Honey 'cause rumors of women in the Bosnian war, the film depicts a rapist and his victim a victim of the love story between an uproar.
Jolie's filming permit the withdrawal of Sarajevo city officials in dispute, but later reinstated after they reviewed the script. Finally, Julie sent a second unit director of the film only three or four in Bosnia, rather than 8 or 10 days, and select the film shot in Hungary, instead.
"Said, once the movie is released to address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters and many plot twists and turns will be," Julie had told Reuters.
"Blood and Honey's land" to open December 23, just when the awards season, who would have thought, to play more than just a good woman Laura filled sleeveless jacket, deafening gunfire "wanted", " Mr and Mrs Smith "," salt "and" Tomb Raider "franchise, it is often difficult to remember, Angelina Jolie is Oscar-winning actress, but also serious.
We do not expect is that she may become a director estimated with. That "just what happened, if the new trailer," the land of blood and honey "is anything to go by.
Editing features clever internal organs picture of Bosnia and Herzegovina, if the war atrocities to get your motor running, then your treatment.
In the early nineties on a Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of the conflict, Jolie's star Zana Ivanovic Ajla, a Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) woman in love with a Serbian soldier named Danijel Golan Kostic "two those who play. "
Julie previously only directed a documentary entitled "in place", where she and other celebrities to visit the various attractions around the world. U.S. Department of Commerce has not yet released drama, only for educational screenings.
Although it is difficult to measure what two minutes trailer, it's safe to say, catch a glimpse of where the screen and have the show on the radar as a potential Oscar contender "Blood and Honey." Perhaps Julie and Ben Affleck as a respected director-demand will soon follow the footsteps.
Yes, the last sentence is another matter, we never thought we would say. Actor always jumping behind the camera very mixed results, try their hand at directing. Sometimes, Ben Affleck Gone baby gone, the town's reputation Helmer career comeback, at other times of Dermot Mulroney to achieve marriage and love marriage Rotten Tomatoes, elusive 0%.
If Angelina Jolie in the blood and honey, the land of the new trailer is any indication, it seems that she was pleased to belong to the former category. Bosnian war drama follows two lovers of the opposite of the conflict - a Christian Serbs play Golan Kostic and Zana Ivanovic to play a Bosnian woman - who find their relationship doomed to civil war. Watch the trailer after the jump. Sadly, it is not the best looking film, video and choppy. However, in addition to technical difficulties, it looks very damn good. The plot seems to have a real emotional resonance, and doing so well, did not get it too old-fashioned romantic or preaching to a larger global conflict tying.
Now the bad news: the land of honey in the blood and also caused some controversy. This is not atypical terrible war movie, but the origin of the story is a debate. Writer JJ Braddock (aka Josip Knezevic) accused Julie from his 2007 novel to steal the soul crushing, which follows the international conflicts of a couple separated. For her, Julie's story, she wrote while in a few days holed up in a sense - of course not impossible, but even the most experienced writers tend to take more longer time to write the script. As I can tell you, she did not address his allegations. We do not know whether Braddock is correct, but the damage if Julie's future appeared so ugly thing, it would be a damn shame. Blood and honey in the land "is in the 1990s Bosnian war context, this bold new film shows a lack of political will to intervene in the conflict affected areas of social consequences.
"In the land of blood and honey," features a completely local cast, most of them children of the war. While shooting the film in English and their native language. In the war of the language is Serbian - Croatian, now called as the baggage handling system.
A precociously artistic, chipmunk--esque singing feeling teen heart-throb Justin Beiber would find it hard to be any more lovable. The tiny teen You-tube star Justin Bieber has talked about his struggle to treat his mother Pattie Mallette accurately. Justin's parents separated when he was young.

Yet the Canadian 16-year-old has pulled it out the container yet again by admitting a striking devotion to the main woman in his life - his mother.
He said: "I often sat with my guitar and sang.
"After a while, I got so many tips that I could pay for the first ever vacation for my mom and me. We went to Florida."
Justin also said that his mother was the most important lady in his life.

He said: "My mom and I have a really good connection because together we made it from rags to riches. Without her I'd never have achieved this much. She made a lot of sacrifices to make my dream of a music career possible.
"She's always there for me and I never want to let her down. She's the best mom in the world. She travels with me every day."
This, however, is not the first time Justin's talked about 'special woman' in his life.

Michael Jackson's mother and children are suing concert promoter AEG Live over the singer's death, TMZ reports.
Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, claims AEG breached its agreement to provide physical care and life-saving equipment for her son. She also alleges the company was negligent in hiring Dr. Conrad Murray as Jackson's physician. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The lawsuit alleges Jackson was shivering and disoriented at his last rehearsal, PEOPLE reports. "AEG had legal duties to Michael Jackson to treat him safely and to not put him in harm's way. But AEG, despite its knowledge of Michael Jackson's physical condition, breached those duties by putting its desire for massive profits from the tour over the health and safety of Michael Jackson," says the lawsuit.
The suit also points the finger at AEG for hiring Dr. Murray without a full background check, claiming, "AEG did not provide a doctor who was truly looking out for Jackson's well-being and did not provide equipment." Mr. Murray has since been charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death.
In addition, the lawsuit includes a section about AEG causing emotional stress to Jackson's son, Prince, who saw his father suffering and dying: "he was put in a position as bystander to these tragic events".
CBS News reports an AEG spokesperson said the company hasn't seen the suit and had no comment. The company has previously said Jackson died before signing an overall agreement with AEG--thus making the terms non-binding.
Winona Ryder is inching back into the spotlight after a self-imposed Hollywood hiatus of sorts.
The 38-year-old actor surfaced on the red carpet Monday night for the Toronto Film Festival premiere of the much-anticipated ballet psychodrama "Black Swan," in which she makes a brief cameo. She posed for photos alongside co-star -- and younger doppelganger -- Natalie Portman, and flaunted her curves in a black dress with a demure below-the-knee skirt and bustier-style neckline. Ryder also displayed a mysterious tattoo on her left forearm, which, according to her avid followers, is a combination of the Indonesian symbol for "compassion" and the Tibetan symbol for "enlightenment."
The '90s icon of classic films such as "Edward Scissorhands," "Reality Bites," and the 1994 remake of "Little Women" -- not to mention past serial dater of various musicians and Johnny Depp all but fell off the face of the earth following the 2001 shoplifting scandal that threatened to sideline her acting career. That incident was a low point, personally and professionally: Ryder was caught on camera stealing some $5,500 worth of designer duds from Saks Fifth Avenue; she was arrested and later put on three years' probation after a headline-making trial.
After Lindsay Lohan sat down with someone from Vanity Fair and attempted to convince us the only thing she's abusing is the time we spend reading about her in the waiting room before our doctors are ready to see us, it's now being reported she'll take her drama camp monologue over to the Today show.
Though TMZ reports multiple networks are hoping to land an interview with Lohan, NBC is said to be the front runner, and they are "actively" trying to get her to wake up at 4 AM to sit across from Matt Lauer and tell him that her jail cell was small and that her father is still an acid washed denim creep. Her mother, Dina (short for Donata! Not even Donatella!), maintains a deal hasn't been made yet, but I wouldn't trust her with the $10 I gave to a second grader this morning for her dolphin charity. Oh, and she also said Lindsay made friends with "alleged murderers." No wonder she hit that stroller and kept driving!
Matt Lauer interviewed Dina a few weeks ago, and Dina reported feeling "ambushed" by all his questions and insinuations that she was a bad mother for not insisting Lindsay spend as much time in rehab as she needed. Perhaps Dina will insist Lauer interviews Lindsay so she'll continue to attest to her mother's Range Rover-sized strength. Or maybe Dina will only allow for Meredith Vieira to talk to Lindsay...but Meredith certainly isn't opposed to one-two punches, either.
James Lee, who walked into the headquarters of the Discovery Channel Wednesday, taking hostages, was an environmental radical who believed people were destroying the planet.
According to a manifesto of sorts he posted on the Internet, Lee believed that “Civilization must be exposed for the filth that it is” and demanded that the Discovery Channel and its affiliated networks stop airing programs “encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions.” Oddly enough, it’s a view shared--perhaps not directly but at least in the same general neighborhood--by any number of prominent thinkers and talkers who take a dim view of the impact mankind has on the planet.
Lee, who not only holed up with hostages but had pipe bombs strapped to his body, was, in the general sense, antimankind--as he said on his Web site in a somewhat distorted echo of the prophecies and prescriptions of Zero Population Growth founder Paul Ehrlich. “Saving the Planet means saving what's left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies!”
Ehrlich, it is worth noting, predicted in the late 1960s in his book The Population Bomb that the resource needs of mankind could not keep pace with the growth of the world’s population and, as a result, global famine would be commonplace by the mid-1970s or early 1980s.
According to news reports Lee was also influenced, alarmed, and possibly even spurred to action by former Vice President Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth, which holds out equally dim prospects for the future of mankind as long as necessities like the internal combustion engine are allowed to continue in operation. Lee himself touched on that issue as well on his Web site, writing that is was important to:
Find solutions for Global Warming, Automotive pollution, International Trade, factory pollution, and the whole blasted human economy. Find ways so that people don't build more housing pollution which destroys the environment to make way for more human filth! Find solutions so that people stop breeding as well as stopping using Oil in order to REVERSE Global warming and the destruction of the planet!
If James Lee had been a member of a Tea Party group or an activist opposed to abortion rights the national media would be in the throes of ecstasy, describing his actions as the product of some sort of loosely organized effort that should have all Americans living in fear for their lives and their liberty. The Department of Homeland Security would probably announce the creation of some sort of task force to investigate his activities and root out his followers and allies. And President Barack Obama would no doubt address the issue in his weekly radio address. But Lee was neither of those things. He was a radical on the edge of an already radicalized movement but one that continues to gain uncritical acceptance among the general public. Perhaps it’s time for a reassessment. With anticipation of tonight's big announcement of Dancing with the Stars new cast, regulars Cheryl Burke, Derek Hough, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and new host Brooke Burke, walked the Entertainment Tonight Emmy after-party red carpet last night to promote Season 12 of their hit reality show.
Burke, a former winner, admitted "all the rumors seem to be true" regarding the new cast. Most notably, there has been a huge buzz surrounding DWTS' most controversial rumored cast member, Jersey Shore's Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. When asked why the show's producers are interested in Sorrentino, Burke pondered, "I think last season kind of proved reality shows and tabloids play a big part of it. Casting is a big part of the success of the show. Everybody seems to be talking more about The Situation than anybody else. I guess it makes sense."
In addition to "The Situation" rumors, Kirstie Alley's name has also been popping up in discussion. Recognizing Alley's constant weight struggles, Burke encouraged Alley to sign up because "it would be the best opportunity to get into shape, and it's the best diet ever." Chmerkovskiy told TV Guide Magazine he does not care who his new partner is as long as it's "somebody young, fit, athletic, and really nice."

bbt I hate to say it, but there is one thing, Enzo has made significant strides in this game: move forward brigade.
Now, it seems, the teams making the final four, and they basically have the Enzo to thank for it. He concentrated on getting rid of their union side, and it seemed that he was one to admit that Matt was not as loyal as the other members. Nevertheless, it still annoys me that in all other respects, he played a bad game.
But enough about Enzo, let’s go back to the game.
Lane opens a Pandora’s box with a ridiculous result of the season. He has a chance to win $ 10000, but won only $ 91.17. As a result, the entire house receives three penalties, starting with silver cups or during the week. After that, the bump in the road, Lane makes a decision, he feared, and appoints Ragan and Enzo. Go to my “nothing to lose and everything to gain” mantra this season, it would seem, must win Ragan POV. But Enzo super upset was nominated for Britney. If he wins POV, Lane, probably nominate Britney, and they are likely to send her home.
If the Smart Lane and he will make Hayden a pawn in this situation so that he could stay on good terms with Britney Spears. Which, apparently, he must, because Britney did not think to vote for Lane to win Big Brother 12! She admits that Hayden Lane does not need the prize money. Is Britney trying to get a good relationship with Hayden or her seriously? Hard to say, but alliances in this game, sure, become more interesting.

Researchers from MIT created some wearable lithium ion batteries that could just be sprayed onto clothing, thereby you have power with you, anywhere and everywhere you go… from cell phones to vehicles, for just about anything [don't worry, a small box (the prototype shown was a Bloom box battery, the wearable batteries haven't been showcased yet) of the size of a big loaf of bread could generate enough electricity for a 5000 sq ft hall]. Even better is it’s the most eco-friendly solution around.
The man at the centre of cricket betting scam allegations concerning the Pakistan team has been bailed without charge, Scotland Yard said.
The News of the World claims it paid a middleman for details of three no-balls later bowled by Pakistan as predicted. Mazhar Majeed, 35, was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud bookmakers.
Their team manager, Yawar Saeed, said cricket was not "institutionally corrupt" in Pakistan and the claims were unproven. The allegations relate to three no-balls delivered by Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif on Thursday and Friday. A no-ball occurs when a bowler oversteps the line behind which balls should be delivered.
Scotland Yard said Mr Majeed, 35, was bailed to appear before police at a future date. Despite the allegations, the fourth and final Test went ahead at Lord's, with England winning the series 3-1. However, England captain Andrew Strauss said the allegations had "removed the gloss" from his side's victory.

Despite the claims about the ongoing Test, the match went ahead at Lord's, with England winning the series.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani said the allegations made his country "bow its head in shame". He has asked his government's Ministry of Sport to conduct an inquiry. Pakistan's Sports Minister Ijaz Jakhrani said any players found guilty would face life bans.
"We will take strict action, but first we will have to look at the inquiry report [from the British police] and once it is out and implicates someone then we will give exemplary punishment," he said.
If any wrongdoing was proven, he said "all the players involved must forget to play for Pakistan in the future".

The New York State Fair opened Thursday in Syracuse sending girls across the East Coast into “Bieber Fever,” since 16-year-old heart throb Justin Bieber is the headliner. Well, Bieber was the headliner anyway.
NYS Fair officials have announced the Justin Bieber concert will be rescheduled for Wednesday night instead of 7 p.m. tonight because Bieber is sick and will not be able to perform for a few days.
Fans who can not make the Wednesday show can get a full refund for their tickets prior to Wednesday’s concert and the Fair will honor all of Sunday’s tickets for the concert on Wednesday. So, the news isn’t all bad.
An open alternative to Facebook will be launched on 15 September, the developers of the project have said.Diaspora describes itself as a "privacy-aware, personally-controlled" social network. The open-source project made headlines earlier this year when Facebook was forced to simplify its privacy settings, after they were criticised for being overly complex and confusing.
The project, developed by four US students, raised $200,000 (£140,000).
"We have Diaspora working, we like it, and it will be open-sourced on September 15th," the team wrote on their blog. The team said they had spent the summer "building clear, contextual sharing".
"That means an intuitive way for users to decide, and not notice deciding, what content goes to their co-workers and what goes to their drinking buddies. We know that's a hard [user interface] problem and we take it seriously."
The project was started by three computer scientists and one mathematician from New York.
Their idea of building it gained momentum earlier this year during an intense period of criticism of Facebook, the world's largest social network
"We want to put users back in control of what they share," Max Salzberg, one of the founders, told BBC News at the time.
The team turned to the fundraising site Kickstarter to raise the $10,000 they thought they would need to build the network.
