lahore—Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif Tuesday reiterated his stance to stay with general masses in their ongoing protest against hours-long power outages.
Addressing Punjab Assembly, the Chief Minister said he would rather like to stand with the public instead of ‘Ali Baba and 40 thieves’.
He appealed of the people to stay protests peaceful.
He stated if provincial government was involved in attacks at homes then assault over Provincial Minister Malik Nadeem Kamran could not happen.
Shahbaz Sharif declared he will never open gunfire on the masses dejected by load shedding, adding that Punjab is being treated like a step mother.
The members of opposition roared slogans that resulted in cessation of CM’s speech. Meanwhile PML-N Lahore President & Member National Assembly Muhammad Pervez Malik has said that the federal government is responsible for anarchy and unrest in the masses.
In a statement issued form PML(N) media office here on Tuesday he said that not only inability but corruption of the present regime is the major reason of frightful energy crisis.
He said that Pakistan, particularly Punjab province is facing the worst load shedding. He said that Punjab is utmost important province as far economy, industrialization and revenue generation is concerned.
He said that line losses were also at the lowest but federal government was targeting the Punjab.
He said that industry in Punjab was being crumpled and not only millions industrial workers but almost 100 million people of Punjab are facing poverty, starvation, unemployment and unrest due to historical electricity shortage but instead of taking corrective measures, PPP government was dredging salt on the injuries of the nation.
Pervez Malik said that protest and hard reaction of the people against the 16-18 hours load shedding in Punjab was quite natural. “What the people will do when they have almost no electricity in the warm and breathless weather despite paying huge electricity bills”, he questioned.
He said that recent rally of PML-N was for expressing solidarity with the load shedding hit people and will continue its efforts till the discriminatory attitude of the PPP-led government and justified electricity supply to the Punjab.
PML-N leader said that the federal government was responsible for the murder of those people, who lost their lives during the protests but instead of showing sympathy, Federal Ministers and advisors were threatening the masses like roguish.
