The voting for the new Leader of the House will be held on Thursday.
The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of senior PPP leaders held at Aiwan-e-Sadr late Tuesday night.
President Asif Ali Zardari was in chair.
Earlier, the coalition partners had authorized President Asif Ali Zardari to nominate the next Prime Minister, decided the meeting of Pakistan People’s Party and its allies here on Tuesday.
According to the sources, the meeting had also decided that the new Prime Minister will be from the Punjab Province.
Meanwhile, PML-Q expressed reservations over the name of Ahmed Mukhtar, while former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani raised concerns over the name of Makhdoom Shahabuddin, sources told. The National Assembly meeting will be convened either on Thursday. Chaudhry Shujaat, Mushahid Hussain, Babar Ghauri, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Haji Adeel, Afrasiab Khattak and others were also present in the meeting.
