Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that land record computerisation is an excellent project of public service and after its completion the obsolete and exploitative system of transfer of land and getting registered deeds (Fards) will be buried forever.
He said that the work on this project had been started in 24 districts of the province while the work in remaining 12 districts would be started soon.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of first service centre in Lahore regarding land record computerisation in the office of District Coordination Officer here on Sunday. Advisor to Chief Minister Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, MPs, Senior Member Board of Revenue Sami Saeed, Project Director Irfan Elahi, Punjab Information Technology Board chairman, officers of Revenue Department and a large number of people were also present on the occasion.
Shahbaz Sharif said 11 centres were providing best services to the people in the matters relating to land in various districts. He said that corrupt mafia tried its best to create hurdles in this project as the corrupt elements were not ready to give up corruption and bribery. He said that the Punjab government was determined to this project and has made an important achievement through its sincere efforts.
He said that land record management system is a marvelous achievement of Punjab government through which land mafia, litigation and land disputes would be resolved in the province and no one would dare to occupy illegally the land of any other. He said that Punjab government had set up 11 service centres in various cities of the province within a short period of four years whereas the establishment of 30 more service centers is in the final stages.
Shahbaz Sharif announced that computerised service of land record would be started in all service centers from 2013. He said that record relating to the land would be available online through land record management information system and the ownership deed (Fard) would be obtained within 30 minutes whereas transfer of land would be made within 50 minutes under this system. He said that initially four centres in Lahore, two each in Lodhran and Haifzabad and one each in Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin and Jhelum have started functioning. He said that land record computerisation would resolve the problems of the people to a great extent and they would have easy access to land record. He said that under this process the people would get land record against the payment of a nominal fee through land computer service centre for obtaining “Fard-e-Malkiat” at tehsil level.
