Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that the Punjab government has been mobilizing all available resources to providing modern medical facilities to people, especially the children.
He said that financial cooperation of the philanthropists could not be ignored in efforts for the protection of health of children.
He stated this while inaugurating the paediatric intensive care unit at DHQ Hospital which has been established with the cooperation of community at a cost of Rs15 million.
Punjab Medical College Principal Prof Riaz Hussain Dab, DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Muhammad Arif Ali, AMS Dr Habib Butter, representatives of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) and Association of Pakistani Doctors of North America (APNA) Rehan Naseem Barara, Wasim Latif, Dr Ilyas Shakir and other doctors were present on the occasion.
The provincial minister thanked the philanthropists on behalf of the Punjab government and said that the establishment of state-of-the-art Paediatric ICU was an appreciable step which was dire need of the region for the treatment of newly-born babies through advance medical technology. In-charge Children Ward Dr Hira Aysha apprised the minister of features of the Paediatric ICU and said that most advance four ventilator machines had been installed in the unit besides provision of ultrasound machine, baby warmer, nebulizer, neonatal oxygen and air compressor system and diagnostic facilities. She said that these ventilator machines were probably first-ever in the Pakistan which have been made available in the DHQ Hospital with the cooperation of PTEA and APNA.
Later, the minister, during the briefing session, said that children were foundation of the nations so as they should be safeguarded from the different seasonal and fatal diseases. He stressed upon the doctors to guide the people for family planning and preventive measures to maintain health. He said that the country was confronted with crippling energy crises, lack of health and education facilities, unemployment and other constraints due to the rapidly increasing population so it must be controlled through providing guidance to the people by the doctors. The minister revealed that Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif had approved another Medical College for Faisalabad and efforts were being made to complete the project under public-private partnership. He said that pay package of doctors had been improved while pay package for the nurses was also being considered by the provincial government. He appreciated the good governance and performance of the hospital administration.
On the occasion, Principal Dr Riaz Hussain Dab informed that various measures were being taken for the development of the DHQ Hospital and Allied Hospital with the cooperation of industrialists and business community.
MS Dr Arif Ali shed light on the performance of the DHQ hospital and said that establishment of Paediatric ICU was the 5th project which had been completed through community participation. He said that Pead ICU was a beneficial addition to the hospital and the people of Faisalabad Division and other adjoining districts could get advance medical treatment benefits for children.
