The expansive property - dubbed Beckingham Palace - has been valued at £18m by estate agents, a tidy profit for the couple who bought the house for £2.5m in 1999. Located in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, the 1930s Georgian property is said to be too far from London for when the family jets in from America.
Instead they are said to be looking for a townhouse in the capital's centre to use as their UK base. David and Victoria Beckham, both 35, have several other properties across the world, including a chateau in France and a house in Dubai, along with their preferred family home in LA.
It has been reported the couple, who have three sons, Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight and Cruz, five, have been looking to cut unnecessary costs from their lifestyle. A source close to the family told the Sunday Mirror: "Frankly they cannot see themselves ever returning to make London their full-time base.
"The children are settled, speak with American accents and David and Victoria are immersed in the laid-back Los Angeles way of life.
"They love it there - they're well liked, have plenty of friends and feel it's their spiritual home."
The Beckhams moved to LA in 2007 when David signed to play for the city's football team LA Galaxy and have since made firm friends with A-listers such as Tom Cruise and Kate Beckinsale. While David Beckham, who is returning from the injury which ruled him out of the World Cup, is contracted with the US team until 2012, Victoria has made her own name over the pond, creating a critically-acclaimed fashion line.
