The general strike on March 29, cracking the Government Association 2012
The CCOO Confederal Council and UGT Confederal Committee, the highest organ between congresses, have unanimously approved the call for general strike against labor reform for 29 March, according to Europa Press sources of both unions.

The date chosen, on Thursday, March 29, coincides with the general strike called by unions nationalists in the Basque Country and Navarre against labor reform and the day prior to the submission of the State Budget for 2012.

The general secretaries of CC.OO. and UGT, Ignacio Fernandez Toxo and Candido Mendez, will offer a press conference starting at 13.15 hours to report the reasons that led them to go on strike.

Unions consider the labor reform approved by the PP government unilaterally as "the most regressive" for the rights of workers and since its launch have been fighting it in the streets with demonstrations, rallies and other protests.

REQUEST FOR DIALOGUE TO THE GOVERNMENT, WITHOUT SUCCESS

The idea has always been the trade unions was to walk to an escalation of protests, the encouragement acompasándola population. Although dismissed at any time call a general strike, his intention has always been to stop the reform before having to make that decision. This, in addition to the demonstrations in the streets, the unions have repeatedly led the Government to ask them to open a negotiation scenario where overturn those aspects of reform more harmful to workers.

They sent two letters to the Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, to ask him, including most recently its alternatives to labor reform, the creation of a contract for companies with fewer than 25 workers with compensation increased to five days per quarter.

The unions gave up within the executive yesterday, that the reform was upheld in Congress, to give an answer and announced the launch of its management bodies for this Friday to decide whether or not going on strike.
