Amid medical crisis in Punjab crated after the YDA’s strike, private hospitals and clinics have started fleecing patients as the government-run hospitals have failed to provide proper medical treatment to indoor and outdoor patients.
According to information, 70 to 80 percent patients, who were admitted in the government hospitals, are forced to get costly medical treatment from private clinics as the hospitals administration is providing medical services to OPD and emergency units only.
The sources said that due to the lack of interest of the newly appointed doctors, the indoor patients are forced to leave the hospitals. However the provincial government is getting the services of military doctors and has appointed several doctors on ad hoc bases, but the medical crisis seem uncontrollable.
Meanwhile, the unqualified doctors and quacks, whose number is multiplying every day, are playing with the health and lives of the residents of Islamabad as these ‘doctors’ have deceived many of them. The affected citizens have complaints that several localities of the city, particularly the congested areas, have become a hub of quacks.
They have also demanded that the government must take strict action against the quacks and medical stores running in the city premises without license. It has also been observed that in many areas the government hospital ward boys, technicians and OT assistants were practicing after putting up fake certificates of homeopathy.
The citizens have urged the authorities concerned to come forward and play their role to curb the practice of unqualified persons and the government should also look into the matter and ensure the eradication of the quacks. Masses have urged government to take apt measures to control such unlawful practices while medical stores running without license must be sealed.
