Former Prime Minister and senior vice chairman of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has decided to disclose elements, causes and facts working behind his ouster from the office. The role of various people, especially sitting in certain institutions would be the focal point of his disclosures. He will be travelling to Multan tomorrow (Sunday) by train and will address public gatherings in his hometown next week. He will meet the people during his journey at different railway stations. He has opted to take a train for proceeding to Multan following footprints of his leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who opted to take train in 1966 for traveling to Karachi from Rawalpindi after quitting late Field Marshal Ayub Khan’s government upon differences on Tashkent Declaration. Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani will be undertaking countrywide tour next month to address various public meetings.
Sources close to the former prime minister told The News here Friday that Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has earthshaking information about persons and elements who were working as agent provocateurs in the days when the government was struggling against judicial activism and the administration was made handicapped at the hands of lengthy litigation procedures. It served as a tool in incapacitating the administration. Gilani will take the nation into confidence that how an intrigue was hatched to wrap up the system and democracy could have been consigned to the dustbin but he frustrated the conspiracy.
He said he has big and pious names in his memory with evidence that are sitting in prestigious offices and talking high of honesty and uprightness but always approached him for their petty interests. Those who disputed his period in government since April 26 were officially beneficiaries of his administration. “It was not the domestic alone but external components were also at work to get rid of me. I must show the faces of such people to the nation,” he pledged to his close aides.
Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani’s father late Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain Gilani inked famous Pakistan Resolution of March 23, 1940 of Lahore as companion of father of the nation Quid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and was ousted from the politics by a dictator for his role in providing services to the people of his hometown Multan in 1958. Gilani feels that now it was his turn to offer sacrifice.
He will address a public meeting on Sunday evening in Multan city and was likely to make first part of disclosures public in the meeting. It will also be addressed by his son Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani who is contesting on the seat fallen vacant due to the judicial verdict against Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani last month. Some PPP stalwarts and its allies will also address the public gathering, the sources said.
